IV Ketamine Treatment
Ketamine Therapy Can Help Where Other Treatments Have Failed
At VIVE Infusion and Wellness, we are proud to offer ketamine therapy as a solution for those who have struggled with mood disorders and chronic pain. Ketamine, a well-researched dissociative anesthetic approved by the FDA in 1970, has been used extensively worldwide in the medical field and is listed by the World Health Organization as one of the world’s most essential medications.
In recent years, research from organizations such as Yale University and the National Institutes of Health has highlighted the benefits of ketamine in treating mood disorders and chronic pain. In fact, the use of ketamine for depression has been dubbed “the biggest discovery in mental health in decades.” At VIVE, we are committed to bringing innovative and effective treatments to our patients, and ketamine therapy is no exception.
What We Treat
We use intravenous ketamine drips to provide our patients with the maximum absorption of this powerful medication. Patients often experience rapid relief from their symptoms within just a few days.
Our intravenous ketamine drips are used to treat a range of mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and PTSD. Our team of experienced medical professionals is dedicated to helping each patient achieve optimal mental wellness through personalized care and cutting-edge treatments.
How Does IV Ketamine Work?
Intravenous ketamine has been shown to be a powerful tool in treating mood disorders. While the exact mechanisms by which it works are not yet fully understood, scientists believe that ketamine’s effect on the neurotransmitter glutamate may play a key role.
Glutamate is found throughout the central nervous system and is associated with memory, learning, and mood regulation. Most current research suggests that ketamine has an excitatory effect on glutamate, which allows new pathways to form in the brain. These new formations have been linked to reduced stress, improved information processing, and better mood regulation.
Many researchers believe that the positive effects of traditional antidepressants may also be a result of regulating glutamate, though they do so in a less direct manner than ketamine. As a result, SSRIs and tricyclic antidepressants often take weeks or longer to start improving symptoms, if they are effective at all. With IV ketamine, however, many patients experience relief from their mental health condition symptoms during the first session.
